What to submit for consideration:
We must review at minimum the introduction and at least one sample chapter along with a letter indicating why the title is appropriate for our list as well as general market/audience information.

For a book that has already been published please send a copy of the book along with any published reviews and detailed information on sales history (number of books published, number of book sold) as well as general market/audience information and the cover letter indicating why the title is appropriate for our list.

We review materials and consider scope and purpose, contribution, scholarship, organization and writing style, and readership.  We will contact you regarding a distribution agreement if we believe the materials are suitable for distribution through the Press.

Submission deadlines:   
While submissions of projects for potential distribution can be received throughout the year we have firm cut-off dates for the submission of final materials (see below) in order to announce distributed titles along with our frontlist titles each season.

Once an agreement is signed, the following final materials must be submitted by the dates listed below or we cannot include your book in that season:

• completed W9 or W8 tax form
• book cover image file (300-dpi jpeg file)
• confirmation of the book’s registration with the Library of Congress. See the Library of Congress website for more information and application: http://www.copyright.gov/
• completed author questionnaire. We cannot accept and move forward with a project without the following information (contained in the questionnaire):
  • Title
  • Author/Publisher
  • Price
  • ISBN (complete the ISBN application.doc form and submit it to Bowker if necessary)
  • Trim size
  • Page count
  • Illustration count
  • Author biography
  • 300 word description (not an endorsement; must be a description)
  • BISAC codes (you must provide 1-3 codes). See http://www.bisg.org/what-we-do-0-136-bisac-subject-headings-list-major-subjects---2009-edition.php

All of the above materials must be submitted:

by February 1 annually for submissions for the Fall/Winter seasonal catalog materials (books with publication dates of September – December)

by August 1 annually for submissions for the Spring/Summer catalog materials (books with publications dates of March – June).
