Policies for Submitting Book Proposals: TV Milestones Series

Books in the series are a maximum of 104 printed pages and are published in a compact format (5" x 7"). Volumes must be a comprehensive account of one show, clearly emphasizing why it is a true milestone. Analysis should typically discuss at least two representative episodes and address such issues as:

•  the show’s broadcast history, including audience reception

•  the show’s place in the history of television/broadcast media, both technically and aesthetically

•  the show’s legacy

•  the show’s generic affiliations and contexts

•  the show’s authorship and stars

•  the show’s visual and performance style

•  the show’s ideological, sociological, and historical contexts and importance

•  videography

•  bibliography of secondary sources

•  appendix with the credits for individual episodes (when possible and appropriate)

Manuscripts should be no more than 30,000 words and include no more than 20 images. Manuscripts at the high end of the word count limit will need to have fewer images to accommodate the restricted format of the printed book.

Follow the general guidelines for the submission of books proposals.
