Bill Harris, author of Booker T & Them and Birth of a Notion, and his wife Carole are being honored for their achievements in art from the Friends of African and African American Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Books will be available for sale and signing.

Poet Vievee Francis will read along with WSU student Aricka Foreman.
Vievee Francis is the author of BlueTail Fly. She is the recipient of a 2009 Rona Jaffe Award, a 2010 Kresge Artist Fellowship, and Callaloo and Cave Canem fellowships.
Aricka Foreman is a Cave Canem Fellow and English major at Wayne State University.

Jean Alicia Elster, author of Who’s Jim Hines?, will be the inaugural visiting author for The Lori Lutz Visiting Artist Series at The Roeper School, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Elster will speak at both the Bloomfield Hills (lower school) and Birmingham (middle/upper school) Campuses during the full-day event.

Join us for the book launch event for The United State District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan by David Gardner Chardavoyne. The event takes place on March 15th, 2012, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse located at 231 W. Lafayette Blvd., Detroit, Michigan 48226. Light refreshments will be served, and copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event. Parking meters are available on the far side of Fort Street, but street parking is prohibited next to the courthouse on all sides.
